In the lead-up to the AU-AIP Water Investment Summit 2025, the African Union Commission, the Government of South Africa, and the AIP High-Level Panel on Water Investments in Africa will convene a High-level Consultation on mobilizing commitments towards the Summit. The High-level Consultation will take place on the sidelines of the International Water Association (IWA) Congress at The Capital 15 On Orange Hotel, Cape Town, South Africa and virtually, from Wednesday, 19th March to Thursday, 20th March 2025.
The AU-AIP Water Investment Summit 2025 will be convened within the framework of South Africa’s G20 Presidency in August in South Africa. The summit aims to elevate the political and economic status of water investments, enabling the continent to mobilise at least USD 30 billion annually for climate-resilient water and sanitation initiatives. The Summit aligns with the broader G20 agenda on economic growth, climate sustainability, and enhanced financing for development.
The High-level Consultation will bring together key stakeholders, including government representatives, international development agencies, private sector investors and civil society organizations among others. It aims to refine the Summit’s objectives, thematic areas, and expected outcomes. It will also serve as a platform to consolidate partnerships.
