The 9th edition of the Danube Participation Day (DPD) explores the question: How can we build a resilient society with the EU Danube Strategy?

In doing so, we will focus on two concrete aspects:

• What role plays participation of civil society for a resilient territorial development in the Danube Region and how can we support it?

• How can the EU Danube Strategy support Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova on their path towards EU membership?

The start of our journey takes us to taking stock of the state of play of participation in the EU Danube Strategy. The Danube Civil Society Forum (DCSF) and PA 10 Institutional Capacity and Cooperation conducted a survey in summer 2022 on participation of civil society in the EU Danube Strategy. The results of this survey provide a starting point to discuss benefits, expectations, and shortfalls of participation and how to shape effective ways for dialogue.

An equally important question is, how the EU Danube Strategy can contribute to the accession process of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova to the European Union. In particular, the Danube Participation Day aims to examine how participation of civil society in Ukraine and Moldova at national and macroregional level contributes to a fruitful accession process.
