On 5 September, we organised a webinar on NBS for informal settlements in collaboration with the IWA Working Group on Nature-based Solutions for Water and Sanitation. We hosted four outstanding researchers and experts who shared their knowledge and first-hand experience in adapting NBS to the specific challenges of informal settlements:
- Uwe Kappelmeyer, UFZ, Germany: Grey water treatment in urban slums in South Africa
- Frank van Dien, Ecofyt, The Netherlands: Retrofitted gravity based constructed wetlands for social housing in cities in Ethiopia
- Miller Alonso Camargo-Valero, Leeds University UK: Use of wastewater stabilisation ponds for combined sewered and non-sewered sanitation in Uganda
- Tony Wong, Monash University, Australia: Maximizing the Success of NbS Projects Through Efficient Stakeholder Collaboration
