🌍💧 Transforming gender norms and dismantling stereotypes is essential for more inclusive decision-making, stronger water outcomes, and greater resilience to the triple planetary crisis of climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss.
Despite growing awareness, the global average score for gender mainstreaming in water resource management is only 58% — far from the 90–100% target by 2030. Only 27% of countries report having achieved gender objectives in their national water frameworks. 🌍
With only five years left to meet SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 6 (Water & Sanitation), accelerating progress is not just important - it’s urgent. 💪 The 2025 Policy Note on Mainstreaming Gender Equality in Water Resources Management, developed in collaboration with UN Women and Global Water Partnership, spotlights countries across the world that are already showing that change is possible by advancing gender equality in water resources management
